How do I book and answer an innovation evaluation?

1. Registering

At first, you need to register your organization with the Innovation Evaluation system. Registering does not commit you to anything, so feel free to register if you just want to check out what the system looks like.

Usually, it is the organization's contact person who registers the organization and orders evaluations. You can register on the Register organization page. You need to enter the basic information for your organization and your contact person. The contact person will be the one who is in contact with our Customer service. When you register, you also create usernames and passwords for the contact person and internal and external respondents. The contact person can freely choose usernames, which can be changed later on, if necessary. The contact person's username should be stored carefully. With this username, you can order and monitor evaluations and edit an organization's information, e.g., change usernames.

2. Ordering an evaluation

Once you have registered, you will be directed to the contact person's management interface. You can access the management interface later by clicking Login and typing in the contact person's username and password.

You can order both internal and external evaluations by selecting Order evaluation. You can have both an internal and external evaluation running simultaneously as internal and external respondents have different usernames. You cannot, however, run two internal benchmarks simultaneously as they need to be run consecutively. When you order an internal evaluation, you choose the capability indices to be evaluated. When you order an external evaluation, you choose respondent groups and the number of organizations taking part.

When ordering an evaluation, you also need to enter your organization units by clicking Enter units. You need to enter at least one unit (e.g., "Whole organization") even if you do not want to break the results down by unit.

After these steps, you just need to wait for our order confirmation.

3. Evaluating

Once you have received our confirmation, the evaluation is ready for the respondents' answers. The contact person usually invites the respondents to take part in the evaluation by sending them an invitation by e-mail. This invitation should include the following:

  • You can answer at www.abilitytoinnovate.com by clicking Login.
  • Username and Password for answering
  • Date by which the answers must be given
Contact people can also use the following sample letters as their invitations. Edit the samples by adding your organization's information and the usernames specified by the contact person.
  • Sample  of a letter to Supplier organization
  • Sample  of a letter to Customer organization
  • Sample  of a letter to internal management teams and other key personnel
When you send invitations for external evaluations, you must also send copies of the invitations to asiakastuki@innovaatiomittaus.fi. If these copies are not sent we cannot issue a certificate for the evaluation as certification requires that we can confirm the transparency and basis of the benchmark.

4. Monitoring an evaluation

You can check how many people have already answered by choosing Monitor Evaluation from the contact person's administration interface. This is an excellent tool for tracking the status of an evaluation. For example, you can send a reminder to the respondents if the deadline is approaching and the evaluation does not have enough answers.

5. Closing an evaluation

If you have received enough answers once the deadline is over, you can end the evaluation from Monitor Evaluation. Once the evaluation has been closed, no new answers will be accepted and respondents can no longer login to the system. This also means that we can start compiling reports.
